Little Xia

I just wanted to share a little bit about a cool kid I know and the super cool couple who adopted him. I first met Becca because I was invited to the grand opening of her home furnishings boutique, Embellish Home. I knew she was a cool chic immediately because she was so friendly and complimented me on my handbag 🙂   She’s one of those rare people who took a chance to follow her dream by leaving her successful law career to follow her heart and open her store. She is one of the most generous people I’ve ever met so it was no surprise when she told us she was adopting a little boy from China. His name is Xia (pronounced shy-a) and is one of the most resilient kids I’ve ever met…..and such a cutie!

My sister and I met John, Becca and Xia at the airport when they arrived around midnight. I had my camera with me (of course) and documented the whole ordeal of installing the car seat and buckling him in safely. I followed them in the door of their house and recorded his first look at his new room. It was such a privilege to be allowed to do that for them! Becca was such a trooper to let me photograph her after a 24 hour (plus) flight with a 3 year old!

Oh, and if it’s not enough to be the owner of a home furnishings boutique, a wife, a new mom to a very active and hungry 3 year old….she is a foster mom to a 14 year old girl. Being the mom of a 13 year old boy I can say that it is no easy task!

If you would like more information about the organization that helped Becca and John with their adoption you can visit Love Without Boundaries:

Embellish Home is located at 914 E. Camelback Rd. (by Oregano’s) and is beyond fabulous! Be sure to stop by and say hello and check out all the beautiful furnishings and decor she has in store for you.
